PLAR Challenge Information Session
Wednesday, January 17, 2024 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM
Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) is how students may obtain credits for prior learning. Prior learning includes the knowledge and skills that students have acquired, in both formal and informal ways, outside secondary school. This information session will outline how students’ prior learning is assessed for the purpose of granting credit for a Grade 10, 11, or 12 Ontario curriculum course.
Subject-specific Program Coordinators will be hosting break-out sessions to help students understand how to apply for a PLAR in a particular subject area. The following subject-specific breakout webinars will be available to join after the general information session:
• PLAR Challenges in Social Science & Humanities, Canadian & World Studies • PLAR Challenges in STEM (Science, Technology and Robotics) • PLAR Challenges in the Arts • PLAR Challenges in Experiential Learning • PLAR Challenges in Languages • PLAR Challenges in Math • PLAR Challenges in Physical Education
For more information, please visit the TDSB PLAR website at https://www.tdsb.on.ca/High-School/Guidance/PLAR

Wexford SHSM Students in 24 Hour Animation Challenge
SHSM students from Northview Heights and Wexford Collegiate participated in this year's 24 Hour Animation Challenge. They had to create exactly thirty seconds of animation that celebrated the medium. Both teams finished in the top 10 high schools and scored over 100 points. According to the announcement:
"...if your team made it to this list it is a BIG DEAL and the judges have collectively agreed that your films are considered among the top of over 400!!!"
In addition to the High Schools, the contest included over 400 post-secondary institutions. The films can be viewed using the links below.
