WexTech9782 - FRC Robotics Team

WexTech9782, Wexford CSA’s robotics team started in 2024 and is part of the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) program which teaches students the importance of community while also helping them build technical skills such as engineering, computer programing, marketing, fundraising, troubleshooting and resilience. Volunteers and professional mentors support the students along the way.

Each year, FRC publishes a new challenge, and the teams are given short amount of time to design a robot within strict rules and with limited resources. The robots are built and programed to perform prescribed tasks in “coopetition” (cooperative competition) against another field of competitors. The students are challenged to hone their teamwork skills, and they are pushed to strategize and determine the best way to work together to outmatch other teams. It’s as close to real-life engineering as you can get and it’s an excellent learning experience for the entire team.

Beyond their commitment to robotics, many of the WexTech9782 members are actively involved in Wexford’s distinguished Arts Program. As a team, they are dedicated to integrating the principles of STEAM with the creativity of the arts, fostering a multidisciplinary approach. They aim to build a welcoming community that cultivates students’ talents in multiple fields of study, encouraging them to solve problems using innovative and creative strategies.

Since its inception WexTech9782 has achieved several accomplishments including a rookie all-start award, rookie inspiration award and they have made it to provincials. With their sights set on the World Championships where over 3,000 teams, from 28 countries compete in Houston, Texas, they are grateful for all the support along the way from parent volunteers, teachers, sponsors, and community donors.
