Geography provides a practical problem-solving approach to investigating and analyzing many important issues facing us today and in the future, issues that range from a local to a global perspective.
Geography involves an integration of both the physical and social sciences. It offers specific knowledge, skills and techniques useful in whatever education and career path you select. Throughout the program, students will be given opportunities to learn through a wide range of practical experiences, including community involvement, guest speakers and out of school activities. Emphasis in each course will be placed on the development of geographic skills. Skills of research, report writing, interviewing techniques, data base and computer simulations and the creative thinking skills required in problem solving and the decision making process will be stressed. Geographers make good leaders because they learn to integrate data from a wide variety of sources to solve problems from a broad perspective.
